The Society for the Relief of Disabled Children urgently needs volunteers to help with their flag day on the 30th of July.

We are urgently seeking volunteers for our Flag Day on 30th July for the morning from 9am-12.30.pm. We need 2000 and currently have 20 this is largely due to the fact that we usually recruit children from schools but this day which was randomly allocated to us falls in the school holidays and so this source of volunteers has evaporated! In addition our initial request for volunteers unfortunately coincided with the the week that the Sichuan Earthquake occurred and unsurprisingly has also had an effect on recruitment.

The Society for the Relief of Disabled Children (established in 1956) is connected to the Duchess of Kent Children Hospital. It works to raise money for disadvantaged disabled children many who need extensive surgery and increasingly supports disabled children in the community as well.

We've always strongly believed that charity begins at home and try and support causes which affect children and will be making a donation on behalf of the GeoExpat / GeoBaby communities.

That by itself is probably not going to be enough this time around. We do strongly urge each and everyone of you who has some spare time on Wednesday, 30th of July, to see if you can help out.

If you do not have spare time and are able to spare even a few hundred dollars, they are accepting donations.

Download the form / contact them. poster_final.pdf forms.

You can either sell the flags (its a flag day) in the appropriate manner. Traditionally its been kids standing on corners and hustling for pennies / dollars. However, we figure with the demographics here AND that its a work day, you can hustle your colleagues to empty their wallets and get a few $50-$100 bills.

They'll also take cash donations.
