| | | My wife and I moved to Hong Kong about three months ago and my wife is a professional dancing instructor, as well as a private music teacher.
We lived in Singapore prior to coming here and she conducted Line Dance classes very successfully for the last few years there.
Line Dancing conjures up an image of Country and Western music but, in fact, embraces all styles, Latin, Rock, Broadway and Pop (from Oldies to the latest hits).
Synchronised steps in a group enable one to learn to dance in a variety of styles, without a partner. These steps can then be applied to dancing WITH a partner. In Singapore, part of the success of the classes was that many people wanted to dance, but had no partner, e.g. the spouse wasn't interested.
It's a good way to keep fit and relieve stress. No special attire is needed, and you can dance in walking shoes or trainers.
My wife is trying to establish a weekly class at one of the Hong Kong Clubs. A minimum of 10 to 15 people is needed to make it viable. Or it could take place in a function room at somebody's apartment block.
If anybody is interested, please private message me. With enough participants we could get something going.
As far as we know, there are currently no Line Dance classes happening in Hong Kong. (We approached one club and they thought we were offering Lion dancing!)

| | | My wife has now set up a sequence of 8 Line Dancing Classes at the HK Football Club, Sports Road, Happy Valley, starting tomorrow night (Wednesday 16th Feb) and running on consecutive Wednesdays until 6th April. The class starts at 7.30 and lasts for 1 hour 1/4.
Dress casual, with comfortable dancing shoes, walking shoes, boots, or trainers/sneakers. Fees HK$1040 for club members and HK $1200 for non members for the sequence of 8 classes. Bringing bottled water is advisable, but there are drinking fountains there.
If anyone out there is interested, just roll up tomorrow evening. If you are not a club member and do not know someone who is, then contact me via private message and leave your contact details. We can arrange to get you in.
If you want to come, but can't make tomorrow night, then you can join on any subsequent week as the rest of the course will be run on a pro-rata basis, although it obviously makes sense to join as soon as possible to keep up with steps, etc.

| | | Hi Evelyn,
...sorry, a little late, but did you find a class already ? Actually I am also searching for one as I would like to join a group at night (maybe once a week) and my husband does not like dancing.
Maybe you can give me a tip ?

| | | Hi I'm moving to Hong Kong in July and I'm looking for dance classes also. Does anyone know if there are ballet, ballroom, funk, jazz, contempory, latin, or any other form of dance classes available. | |

| | Indian Bollywood & Belly danceing lessons!! Their very popular in HK, Pure Fitness & Pure Yoga offer YOGA DANCE, it's a lot of fun, much like in the movie "THE GURU", and "KARMA SUTRA" but it's very beautiful. Belly dancing is offered at the OASIS DANCE studio, cheap lessons in Wan Chai, pick up an HK Mag - in the black+white section, there's heaps advertised. | |
