Pure Breed Jack Russell Terrier

are there any places, particular shops that sell pure breed jack russell terriers? I've already adopted 2 dogs but this time i'd like to buy a pup 1-2 months old... any information would be appreciated!

Thats great, I just wondered because I don't think a lot of people realise what they let themselves in for when they get a JRT............hehe.

Again, what is with people in Hong Kong trying to buy one month old puppies?! No reputable breeder will sell a puppy at that age and it should be a crime to take such a young baby dog away from its mother. Please do not buy a month old puppy, even if you can find a pet shop that sells that young, the dog will be missing the socialization it would have had being left with its mother and siblings a little longer and may have health problems from being weaned much too early. Don't support Hong Kong pet shops that engage in these poor practices.

Try contacting the HK Kennel Club for info on Jack R breeders. If you are going to get a puppy, finding a good breeder, where you can view the parents, is generally a better option that purchasing from a Hong Kong pet shop. The numerous problems with HK pet shop puppies (parvo and other diseases, inbred or unwell puppies, unsanitary conditions dogs are kept in, poor socialization, etc.) are discussed on this forum and elsewhere.

HomerPSU,

Personally I would consider the pros & cons of having a JRT in HK. As you are aware of the breed, you know they are feisty (or should that be noisy!) little characters, who need tons of exercise every day. Even in the NT, where you can let them run free, JRTs are notorious for disappearing down holes made by other animals.

Most of the JRTs I have met in HK are walked by helpers, they are not walked far or fast enough & therefore are overweight & aggressive. We have a JRT here, who we got from rescue kennels, he is 3yrs old. I walk him at least twice a day - we go for miles & have done all the shorter trails - and still he is never tired out........!

weekends hiking, every morning 2 mile run... another run at night... i only hope the dog can keep up with me.

i work at home and i've never hired a helper. i do all the choirs myself.

noise no problem, live in a house in the new territories. lots of other dogs around he can play with.

AGAIN, as i've said already, i've owned two JRT before.

i'll look for a 3-4 month old pup but could you guys stop with the lecturing and stick with providing useful information? thanks.

i'm willing to put up the money to take care of this dog. i've considered other options, read most of your lectures on other posts (hello_there). but i've got my mind set on a JRT at a young age. breeder, pet shop, rescue center, doesn't matter. if he/she gets sick i'll foot the bill to help the little guy out.

no more lectures, just information, thanks.
