Recommended airlines for HK-Kathmandu

Before I embark on a slew of internet searches, can anyone recommend airlines for a HK-Kathmandu trip?

So far the only direct flight I've found is Cathay/Dragaonair, which is fully booked for the dates I want.

Thanks.

Thai Airways

We visited in March 2007 and used Thai Airways with a connection out of Bangkok. It was the cheapest flight at the time, and was a good flight in my opinion. Good luck, Nepal is a nice place to visit.

Thai usually is the most expensive but it depends on the date. I would recommend Thai as well as you get there around midday, the others you will only arrive at night which waste a whole day. Comming back I heard that you have to stay 1 night in BangKok. I dont know if its still the same. Book early for Thai airways as comming back its usually full from Bkk to HK (that part of the trip, lots of Hongkonger go there).

Royal Nepal is the cheapest but can be a problem sometimes as they do have quite a few delays.
HK Express also flies there but comming back u leave Nepal around 11 pm and only arrive in HK at 5.30 am so its a bit of a pain in the rear as the train wont be open at that time.

if u need any info, pm me. I am from there as you can see from my flag.

The first AE train from the airport is at 5:54, so you're unlikely to have much of a wait...

Thanks everyone. I'm looking into the other suggestions.

This is the first I've heard of HK Express... are they relatively new? Anyway, I just checked their website and unfortunately it looks like they no longer fly to Nepal.

I also used Thai - though from Sydney via Bangkok.

Just as a side note - is it rally safe to be heading into Nepal at the moment? There have been reports that since the Maoist took power and abolished the royal system there has been considerable unrest...
