US birth registration/physical presence

Does anyone know how much documentation is needed for physical presence in the US when both parents are citizens? there are trips I took as a child that I have no idea the dates of (to canada, mexico, Caribbean, before a passport was required) and other than my passport showing the last several years I have no idea what else I will need to "prove" physical presence. My husband is even worse, as his passport was stolen just before we moved here... we have his college transcripts so that accounts for some time. Does it even matter as we are both US citizens?

Thanks!
