Manila weekend...

Booked a flight to Manila for a friday night as a weekend away form hong kong - returning on the Sunday evening. I have since heard that there isn't that much to see or do in Manila for a weekend...

Would I be better travelling on to somewhere else as the fightrs are now booked? Any recomendations would be much appreciated.

It rather depends what you enjoy doing. Manila isn't a beach resort, but there's decent nightlife, good restaurants, and enough cultural stuff to keep you going for a day and a half.

Agree with PDLM, there are cultural things to do in Manila (if that is what you were looking for), plenty of great shopping (if you are in to that) and many reasonably priced restaurants and bars/clubs if you enjoy nightlife.

Go and experience it. Metro Manila has over 10million people in it, so am sure there are some activities that you can find to fill in a weekend (although, it will be hot!).

fly to cebu or boracay from Manila, if u like the beach and want to relax swimming or sun bathing.

That's hardly practical for a Friday night flight to Manila returning on Sunday evening - you'd get less than 24 hours in Cebu, and no time at all in Boracay. And it makes far more sense to fly directly to Cebu if that's where you want to go.

But presumably the OP already knew that Manila wasn't a beach resort when s/he booked the flights...

Well the OP is asking if its better to travel on to somewhere else thats why i recommended those two places. I know it would be a major hassle and u will probably only get 1 or not even 1 full day there which is quite a waste of time to travel.

GMI, I would recommend that u listen to PDLM and just stay in Manlia, lots of things to do there. Great Nightlife, Very Very Large Malls (SM Mega Malls) for shopping.

If your a bloke and really really enjoy the nightlife and going there by yourself, i would recommend that you book a car and head to Angeles (PAMPANGA). Surrounding the old US airbase (Clark) is aprox 200-300 (Wink Wink) bars. You wont feel lonely over there.

Cheers....on doing a bit of research there will be plenty to do and see. Just heard a few stories about it being 1 - Dangerous and 2 - Not that great, but have heard that about 1000 other places before and had a great time.

Yes Im a single bloke going on my own, however not single enough to need to go to Angeles from my quick google search - thanks for the pointer though!
