Unhappy Break lease DB

Hi,
Due to Multiple Visa ban, I have now lost my job. I call my lardlord as I need to break the lease and wil have to move back to my country by the end of the week, although I already paid the rent up till the end of this month.
He suggested that he will keep my 2 monthes deposit and wants me to pay my rent up to September (my lease ends in October).
I don't know what to do. It seems to be a great deal of money plus I'll be moving out sooner for the agent to start showing people around sooner.
My agent said it's unfair and told me to just leave and let the landlord keep the deposit.
Paart of me feel wrong but it's a lot of money to pay and feel that he will profit from this month rent anyway.
It's a nice flat and I'm sure there will be someone else move in soon.
What should I do?

if your on your first year of the contract then u should pay until oct but the landlord is havin a laff if he wants u to pay all those months and also keep the 2 months. U aint going to get back the deposit so just leave like the agent said. Its not the owners fault that u need to break the contract and leave early. I feel for ya but a contract is a contract. Just run without loosing even more money. LOL

The honest thing to do is work with the owner (landlord) and try to get a settlement you can both agree to. DBay is a tough market now, and rental rate must be below 50%, as about half the flats in my building are empty. But most owners will be willing to to meet you half-way since some money is better than no money. It actually comes down to what kind of person you are: honest or not?

I thought I was pretty clear - i have told him the exact situation yet there is no compromise. There is no dishonesty here. Cheers.

If you're leaving the country. Just walk away without any guilt if he / she is unwilling to compromise.

Many landlords will try and suck every penny out of you.....

Thank KIA.
I've read the forum since moved here.
I must say I like your style and would miss you eventhough I don't know you in person but I feel like I know you...if that makes sense.

Thanks for my first and last advise in HK.
