Medical Insurance: Pre-existing condition Hi, I'm planning on moving to Hong Kong early next year. I have one problem and that is that I have a pre-existing medical condition- I have a kidney problem and will need to join a hospital plan incase I need to be hospitalised/put onto dialysis. If anyone knows of the costs amounts to insure me, please let me know. Thanks!

no individual plan in hk covers pre-existing conditions. only group plans will possibly do this. you will need to check with your employer's health insurer. if the reality is you will need dialysis in the near future, you should be the one who should be saving for its costs.

The local hospitals are extremely cheap and affrordable if you have a HKID card.approx HK$100 entry and then HK$80 per day (inc of treatment). Not sure if any special conditions apply for certain conditions/treatments. If you have large savings and/or will be earning above the average wage here then I think insurance/private treatment is the morally right thing to do.
