The prices and plan details have been in Hi-Tech magazine all this week. I haven't seen 3 shops do anything to promote it yet though.

Bender : Same old same old ... the reasons why you're not happy with PCCW are probably the same reasons you'd be not happy with 3.

the constant dropped calls...the absolute horrendous (tin box with echo) voice quality, and the frequent unreceived SMS messages ...

all of that is a standard in hk?
i hope not. my colleagues use Smartone and say its good. i liked CSL, but the price was expensive for the data plan.

Now with smart phones there is web browsing, GPS, etc. No one wants a shitty unsupported minority browser, or the utter turd that is WAP. It allows people to, like Japan, access the Internet and contact friends, send photos, etc, without needing an expensive desktop or laptop computer.
But isn't this true for all smartphones. Besides the muti-touch what is so special on the iphone? To me it seems a good integration with the rest of the gear for Mac fans; but whats the deal with the rest of the crowd (purely from a techi perspective.. no intention to start a fan war)

I use a blackberry (classic) and find it great. I have yet to see something that beats it for email. My P1i (which I mainly use as a phone) is great but slightly complicated and also has the touch-screen which works well (no time lag), and my husbands E61i is great for browsing but not so good for email... so I agree with the post above, smartphones do already do it (the P1i in particular) so I won't be moving. I do not value mac integration but my husband who has an apple computer might.... Neither of us have an ipod and are not into the whole music thing anyway.

For those who have used a pure touchscreen phone before.

- When typing emails/SMS how comfortable is the virtual keyboard... I would imagine a lot harder to use than keys?
- How does the touchscreen hold up with long nails (true for most females) over extended use?

On the positive side, I am yet to see another phone that uses the accelerometer so well (very few phones have it in the first place)

Might be location or cell phone specific? While I'm not exactly a fan of PCCW, I don't have these problems on my E61 and mostly on HK side usage.
