- Well said Private AJ, carry on!

I don't think we should put down someone for wanting to share love with people who have the guts to openly comment on this forum in the first place. These are the people who keep Geoexpat in business. If there are no comments coming through there is no point in visiting the site. And really, they're doing it not just in reaction to the negative comments they've been getting but generally because they actually like to hear what that person has to say. I do anyway.

I don't think many of us actually take the negative crisiticism to heart, particularly when it is childish or inane but it does make you wonder about the people on the site. As my husband asks, why do you bother?

Ontheroad I got one of those lovely - red dots LOL. What the?

KIA. Any way you could issue an electric shock to people giving say, 3 negatives raps in a row

Or maybe their name goes up in red like when you pee in the pool and the red dot follows you round...

KIA - that was a good change to the text:

Helpful / not helpful is better than approve / disapprove

But even then I get lots of red dots from people for posts which are absolutely accurate but obviously don't tell people what they want to hear.
(For example, I keep getting red dots for pointing out that there is absolutely no provision in HK law for people to get money back that they gave to Oasis - it's true and accurate, but saying it is hammering my rating).

(And why have I just lost 700 rating points?)

Thanks to Sunfire's post. Figured it needed to be reworded.

and that is my point, and those that agree with me. Just because we state something truthful, doesn't mean we get hammered by the small-minded sucks that can't handle it when people don't sugar coat things for them! Jesus, grow up and join the real world. Or perhaps its time you people stop having your maids tying your shoes for you, you are 34 now!

It doesn't really bother me if I get red posts - more a badge of honor. Some of the comments attached to my negative dings made me laugh. Don't take it too seriously. There are more important things in life.

Personally, I have never given anyone either a negative or positive rating. If I had an issue, I would do it directly. If I worried what people thought of me I would not get out of bed in the morning. Am past caring.

The only thing that worries me about this forum though is that most of the posts are made in working hours Monday-Friday which means that most of us are reading and posting when we are supposed to be working!!

Edit: Didn't see KIA's post until now, moving on...
You're misunderstanding where I am coming from. I certainly have no desire to silence others. I just think resorting to personal abuse shows a weak mind (unless of course they are pushing you on the MTR in which case personal abuse is compulsory) and doing it anonymously shows cowardice. If you think the system is unfair then try to change it comrade.

moving on......

i joined this thread late...but i am hoping for some help from all of you:

PLEASE GIVE ME A RED DOT!!!!!!!!!

my new goal, based on this thread, is to have the most red dots possible. I agree with the OP completely, but my action to deal with it is to "downgrade" my title with as many red dots as possible.

PLEASE HELP ME OUT, and spread the word.
