Tailor made suit

Any idea whats the price range for a tailor made suit in HK (not Shenzhen)? Reasonable material is good enough, nothing fancy.

And any tailor recommendations? Friends here for a wk only, possible to get one done?

From what I hear WW Chan is a great choice if not out of your price range. Apparently Jantzen is an alternative if you cannot afford Chan suits. I don't have first hand experience though - however Jantzen will custom make you some shirts at HK300 to HK320 each and the ones I bought are quite nice.

We are getting stuff made at British Textiles@ 50 Nathan Road Kowloon. They came highly recommended. We bought the material at the Western Market. Very impressed with the service and the manner of the 2 (Chinese) tailors - we shall see what the quality is like.

I know this response is way past the date the topic was posted. However, for the future benefit of others, here is some useful information.

BUDGET: under HK$1000

In Hong Kong

A tailor made suit can be made in Hollywood Plaza, Mongkok for about HK$700-800. However, it takes roughly 2 weeks to get it made (I believe they simply outsource it to mainland China which explains why it takes so long). They also have a number of ready-made suits for about HK$400-500 which is worth considering.

Shenzhen

The best place to go is Luohu Commercial Centre, 5th Floor (Fabric Market), Shenzhen. Here a tailor-made suit costs (the cheapest quote I have been given) RMB520 (or usually 500-600RMB). This is for a 2 piece i.e. blazer + trousers.

If you bring a suit that you have already so that they can copy, it takes them 3 days to complete (if you inform them on Monday and leave them a copy, you can collect the suit on Wednesday). If you want them to take measurements from you, then it will take 1 week (because, you have to go there first, then return again for a draft fitting and then return once more to pick it up).

2 tailors that charge 500-600RMB are:

Shanghai Nansheng Tongxin Clothing, 5/F, 5133A, Luohu Commercial Centre, Tel: +86 13008894317

Hua Hua Professional Tailors, 5/F, 5072 Luohu Commercial Centre, Tel: +86 13410610128
