There are many, many barbecue and picnic areas in the country parks. Start here for some guidance: AFCD Recreational areas

The Brides Pool trail, located in the Plover Cove area, is among our favourite picnic spots in Hong Kong. Terrific spot to walk along, set amongst flowing water, overhanging trees, in a mountainous landscape, and two water falls at either end of the trail. We usually drive directly there, but you can easilly access this spot by catching the KCR to Taipo, and either getting a bus, or a approx 15 minute taxi ride, that will take you to Brides Pool Road.

BBQ pits and ample supplied national park picnic stools are provided, which makes it an ideal spot. Every time that we have gone there, its been quiet, very few day trippers seem to make it this far out, which only further adds to the pleasant picnic experience.

If you are scratching your heads for things to do with the kids during the school holidays, for something ( new ) to do, then I highly recommend the Kadoorie Farm & Botanical Gardens.. It will appeal to all age groups, ideal for a family outing, and plenty of tabled picnic area's are provided.

I uploaded a short video that I made during our last visit, to give you all an idea.

Pretty damn good value for the $10.00 entry fee...
