How much would it be for a decent apartment in HK. Lets say for 2 people ? More like a 2 B/D apt ?

Question Links to renting apartments in HK

Hi...

I will be moving to HK shortly for about a year or so along with my wife.

1. Where can I get links about rental properties ?

2. Furnished / Semi furnished ? What's the general take on these ?

3. What are the areas in HK as in in terms of where one can stay ?

4. I would be on a tight budget so

Any help would be welcome !!

www.centanet.com is a good alternative.

There is no substitute to being in Hong Kong and looking around, to see what might or might not suit your lifestyle -- and give you an effective compromise between rent and transportation bills.

Thanks Knowitall !!

Will check out the site. I know there is no substitute to being there and looking out and seeing for myself. But frankly the problem is One I will be there with my wife and dont want to be staying for a long time in the hotel.
The other being dont know how busy I will get with work once I am there and how much time I get to try and settle in .. That's the whole issue

Anyway Kudos to you .. the site is a gr8 and must read for people coming to HK !!

For HK Island, a resonable 2 BR place, you will be looking at a min. of HK$5000.

It depends on what you looking for. Furnished , semi- furnished , Empty ?

And some flat rental ads when they write furnished is a bunch of crap. You're need to do some legwork and go around to see the apartments.

But i would suggest the first thing you do is determine where you want to stay. Which part of HK lsland ?

Speedy

what I had in mind was something which would be fully furnished or atleast a semi-furnished apt?
Do most of the apts come with washer, dryers, refrigrators or are they only on the fully furnished ones ?

Again regarding what part of the island .. I do know that Kowloon island is a NO NO.. but HK Island is what I am looking at ... I hope what I am saying is making sense .,..

What are ur thoughts ?

What apts come with will depend greatly on the landlord. When i was aprtment hunting, I saw a copy of pretty nice looking apartments at Kornhill, fully furnished (TV , washer etec) for about HK$8,000 . In the same breath, i saw one that was in the next developement going for HK$5000 that was totally bare.

It varies, some places might state furnished but the stuff look like they pick it up from the junk yard . There are really nich looking places but this tend to get rented out pertty quick

Websites like Gohome.com.hk will give you a general idea of the rental cost for different areas and some have web links to the building so you can have a idea what the place looks like. If you can get a local to go apartment hunting with you, it helps. Of course, having a good agent will speed things up alot
