Infidelity in HK

I've heard from many people that lots of relationships end in divorce when couples move to HK. Just curious to know if other people have heard the same thing or witnessed it? I've heard that what generally happens is the men meet a local and cheat. The wives find out and get all the money Not necessarily a bad thing. (kidding.) Is it easier for men to cheat here than back home? The superman thread shows that men either get more attention here than back home or at least think they do

Any thoughts?

very easy to cheat over here, if its your first time out in ASIA you might suddenly get yellow or brown fever, know loads of expats that have caught this disease. LOL

Yes like wtbhotia explains, quiet a few expat men get yellow fever struck, because the local HK men who earn high salaries do it blatantly, and maintain their harem of mistresses. Its a bit of a boast for them, a signal of success amongst your male peers.

There is an apartment block in Nanshan ( Shenzhen ) called The 2nd Hong Kong wives hotel, all secretly owned apartments owned by HK men..

It really depends on what type of person you are, and if you are affected by peer groups or not. It won't take long for married guys who are prone to following the flock of what their office superiors get up to.

It was never my cup of tea, and I have purposely ostracised anybody known to do the Wan Chai antics, amongst our group of friends. If these men are willing to cheat the matrimonial home, then their friendship is equally as worthless in my opinion. A snakes character is to never be trusted.

Strong marriages where partners jointly socialise are safe as houses in Hong Kong, but if your man is very independant and very much into his secret mens business groups, at the expense of spending time at home with the wife and kids, theres a very high chance of probability he is up to no good.

Anybody who frequents Wan Chai, without their spouse, during mutually available spare time, is up to no good IMO.

That all makes perfect sense to me. Does not appear to be different than anywhere else though - appart from perhaps more opportunity!

I also think that relationships get in trouble here because (depending where you're from) the work culture and stress might be quite different.

I used to work in Australia before moving up to HK two years ago. On Friday I'd finish off work early, go the the gym, spend the rest of the afternoon on the beach. Here, I'm lucky if I get home by 10pm after gym. It's easy to get impatient and cranky. Not all relationships are strong enough to deal with change.

Mine, luckily, is.

I do get a lot more attention here, so if I wasn't loyal to my girl, it's very easy to do bad things. And you don't have to pay for it.

That's a very big difference though!

Not sure on the peer pressure stuff. I really don't think men are unfaithful because their boss and colleagues are. Colleagues can introduce people to the bars though and that can be an influence but don't think that is really peer pressure.

...more attention here, almost certainly...a friend of mine once said that that the breath of people who like to snack on dried fish and other such (pet food like) items is such a put-off that he would never have any problems with temptation!

Too funny.

So do the women getting involved know the men are married? If so what are they expecting exactly? Is it ok here to be just a mistress?
