stopover in HK airport I have a friend who will be in HK airport for approx 4 hours on a flight from Auz to UK. Will he be able to come through passport control and meet with me and then go back through to catch the next flight ?? I do this in Heathrow when i start the journey in Manchester and then going for dinner in Southall before getting my flight back to HK and they never check cos they just assume you started the journey in London, and you already have the boarding pass but was not sure how it would be here. I can't see why not.......... Any experience ??

No problem assuming he is travelling on a passport which allows visa-free access to HK.

yeah UK passport. Just when I suggested it he thought I was trying to talk him into doing something naughty and then I began to doubt myself..... I know technically I shouldn't leave heathrow and I do but I always go back for the next leg and I figure worst case is they offload your luggage anyway..... but thanks for the confirmation. Just as i thought. I was on a flight a month ago from UK and sitting with a guy who was on his way to Auz and he had an 8 hour stopover and was going to stay in the airport. I can't imagine anything worse.... esp when you have HK 30 mins away on the airport express....

Not a problem In and out of immigration and security should not be a problem. HKIA is one of the most efficient airports in the world.
