I'm kind of curious- can you substantiate that view with some hard information on materials choice and construction technique, or is it an opinion driven by advertising, pricing and product placement?

Seibu in TST (in mtr station) has very good shoes. They are expensive but during sale they are up to 70% off. Of course in the beginning they start with only 30% off but it is worth to take a look now and then. Some shops already have sale.

Shoe brands in my mind: 1) JM Weston 2) Prada 3) Church If you usually cant find a good fit, JM Weston would def. be your choice as they have at least 3-6 different sizes for width as well. For cheaper ones (let's say ~2k), I believe that those at Lane Crawford are also acceptable too (feels light though - not for me).
