Motorbike ride routes?

Hi bikers,

I'm very serious about getting a sportsbike (zzr1400/zx12r/zx9r most likely) soon. I live on HK island, and I can't think of that many good rides here, except a short ride down to Shek O/Stanley/Repulse Bay etc. But for longer afternoon rides, what do you guys recommend?

Any good rides into New Territories? What's the roads like up there, traffic etc?

I'm dying to get back on a bike for weekend rides, but just concerned I got no where to ride it... Riding the traffic of HK Island and Kowloon ain't much of a thrill..

Thanks!

bike ride up Tai Mo Shan is great, The highest hill or mountain in HK, take the route twisk from tseun wan all the way up and down to Shek Kong. Thats a great ride, even for sports cars. Not much traffic, some road works going on but the view on the shek kong side is great, you will be able to see the small airport runway and the largest PLA barracks.

Clear Water bay road is good or the road to sai kung then onwards to Ma on shan.

NT roads are way more fun then HK island side.

Loads of bikers head to clear water bay beach at night, there is a large car park by the beach and on weekends at night, there can be well over 100 bikes there. not always but sometimes

Master, where were you planning to get your bike? I had to sell my GSX-R600 just before I moved to HK in March. I've got the itch really bad and would like to get back on 2 wheels myself.

Thanks for that. Much appreciated. That sounds great. I've lived in HK for two years, but I haven't had the chance to see that area (probably because no bike..).

I'll take your advice and try those routes. Once I get a bike..

At this point, I've found some good bikes on iBike.hk.

Even if you don't read Chinese, you'll be able to find used/new bikes on that site.

Just don't pick any of the bikes I want to buy

I've seen a couple of GSX-R1000 there, very cheap.

Good luck. See you out there.

I've been thinking about getting a bike too. My previous experience is limited to putting around on scooters in Thailand while on holiday. So I'll need a hk drivers license, and the mandatory? lessons for it.

I'm really just looking for something that i can drive out to the more remote areas of hk and around taipo. Any recommendations on what to look for in a bike would be greatly appreciated.

buy one of the new fully automatic scooter type bikes 250 cc upwards, they are comfortable, some u can add cd players and blast out music while riding. as they are fully automatic no need to care about changing gears, clutch etc. its either accelerate or brake. very good for traffic in HK.

Master,

Do u know the authorised dealer of Kawasaki in HK, if you need it, I can PM u.

I would suggest you all to consider >250cc bike in hongkong,
coz there are a lot of uphide roads.

I've heard from a bike technician that <250cc bikes only suitable for girls and shouldn't be driven over 15km a trip.

Scooter is good for daily use, but it's no fun at all. If you are a Sunday driver, go for a Manual.

I would preferably not want anything lower than 1000cc.

I'm planning to look at some bikes this weekend. I've PM'ed you.
