However, for a want-to-b expat looking to come to Hong Kong to try and compete in this 'sector' or employment it will be very tough. I would suggest that most counter staff in your average high street bank in the UK can afford to live 'away from home' (not with parents), however I would suspect that a large percentage of people in equivalent roles here in HK would not. | As we've already gone off topic - there is a shop near me called Daniel and Hayley, is it yours?

| | | HK$8-10K per month plus accommodation is average income for HK, so you'll be fine.
Are you going to do this on a Working Holiday Visa or illegally? You aren't going to get an Employment Visa for running a video games shop.

| | James - another pointer if you want to get ahead in any job requiring written communication .... try a few full stops in your writing. Like these. They really help readers understand what you are trying to say.
GOOD LUCK!
You've got balls to want to try and live here on a local wage - hope you find a nice local girl to go with it and you'll be set.

I work for an American bank and put it this way I do about 10% of the work I did in London as its not as manic or stressful as my previous role and thats all I'm going to say on this as I don't want to incriminate myself more than I have to! | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8.
