Does My Daughter Need a Work Visa

Hi,

Wondered if anyone can help please.
I am a UK expat working in HK for the last two years (with an Employment permission to remain visa) with 13 months left to go.

My daughter (18 years old) who is just finishing her A levels in the UK is interested to come out to HK to try and get say 3 or 4 months working experience in her chosen path (Events Management).
I am not sure what the process is for my daughter to work temporarily in HK.
The Gov web site does not seem very clear on this point.
Can anyone please advise what I need to do in this respect.
Does she have a right to work because i have a work permit ??

Regards

Hutchy

At the age of 18 and not in full-time study in HK, your daughter is considered an adult so she's not eligible for a dependent visa attached to your employment one.

She would either have to apply for her own visa or explore the possibility of a visa under the Working Holiday Scheme if she holds a Australian, Irish or NZ passport.

Note: an employment visa is also required should she want to take up unpaid or volunteer work.

No she doesn't. In order to work she would an Employment or Training Visa in her own right (which would need a specific employer to sponsor it).

(Dependant children must be under the age of 18, so she's too old for that.)

Form: http://www.immd.gov.hk/pdforms/id(e)936.pdf
Guidance: http://www.immd.gov.hk/pdforms/id(e)937.pdf

The only other alternative would be a working Holiday Visa if she holds an Australian, New Zealand or Irish passport.

(EDIT - oops - Claire's fingers are going faster than mine today)

Yup. The employer would be her sponsor.
