Bootleg question

I was wondering what are the policies with HK police and doing some sort of checkup on bootleg products.

There is an online seller selling products of my company, months before it even hits stores. I was able to get this persons name and part of their address.

is it possible that if I contacted HK Police, they would contact the online marketplace to get the full address (if i could not) and then pay a visit to this bootlegger?

I think it is the Customs department that is responsible for fakes etc.

well...its not a fake...its an actual sample that was somehwo taken from our factory or from our office...and is now being sold online.

we see this all the time, and while they are not super expensive, or some new age invention....its still our product and we dont like seeing it (and our customers hate seeing it) available online in HK before it even reaches our customers shelves.

Sounds legit then, there is no crime taking place.

You should think of clearly stamping your samples as samples. You could include unique IDs per sample and then bar that reseller from purchasing from you again.

lulumay is an unknown quantity at this point.
Call the cops. The guy from your office stole the samples and flogged it off. This is theft.

these are internal pre-production samples, that are only viewed by internal staff and the factories that make them.

the person selling them is NOT a reseller, a customer, a store...nothing. he is just some guy that got "a hold" on these samples, and is selling them off BEFORE we even are shipping to the 1st customer, or even sending out the 1st sample to the customers.

there is nothing "legit" about this.
it is illegal, but i dont know how he got a hold of this sample. I dont want to accuse my internal staff of foul play, and I dont want to accuse the factories...but I just dont see how they could get these samples without the aide of one of them.

Then you need to keep a full audit trail of who has access to what products and samples, As has been mentioned before stamp samples on the products have some sort of reference number attached to the product and lock the products/samples away that your internal staff has access too, If they need it for whatever reason then they have to sign for it and its then their responsibility.

As for the factories theres nothing that can be done really as they will always make over runs etc which get leaked onto the markets etc.

What's up with your vocabulary? Why don't you just say you have seen one or more of your stolen products for sale? Bootlegging is completely different.

Handling and selling stolen goods is also a criminal offence.
