lantau:
depends on where you want to go. you can either get there by bus, mtr or ferry or some combination of these.

shenzhen:

Keep in mind that Shenzen is a big place, so you'll have to be specific about where you are going in SZ. The ferry doesn't get you anywhere near the train.

And your biggest problem going to Shenzhen as a non-HK resident may well be getting the visa you need.

Hey,

whats the best way to go to SZ with big bags? I usually take the KCR, but is there like a bus or a car that goes all the way into the mainland (city centre of SZ should be fine)?
THX

Big bags don't seem to stop anyone else from using the KCR.

If you have a lot of luggage, i'd suggest the following :

At HK airport, there is a new Terminal (T2) / skyplaza which has many busses to the mainland.

What you do is : #

Land at the airport, get your passport checked, after that get your luggage, and then exist through arrivals A or B (you'll see what i mean, when you get there).

Then at the arrivals hall you walk straight through to T2/skyplaza (follow the orange markings. it's all very easy) and at the ground floor you'll see busses to Shenzhen, Dongguang, Guangzhou, etc. This busstation is inside the plaza and upstairs you have shops and restaurants.

I haven't tried it yet as i just discovered it while picking up my gf, but it's brand new and looks super easy to go to China provinding you have a Visa in your passport. Ive been told it take 1h 15 mins for the bus to get there. Ever hour or so there is a bus leaving.

(ussually - and i do it a lot - i take the A21 bus to Tsim Sha Tsui and from there at exit G, the KCR to Lo Wu, followed by a taxi or subway in shenzhen. But i guess the bus option as described above should be more convenient and faster)

To Lantau, by ferry or by bus. To SZ, by bus or by train. You need to speak Putonghua if you come here in SZ. I live in SZ for 3 years, I can show you around for a reasonable charge in SZ, and it depends on where you want to go. PM to me if you need that help.
