Any Indie Bars?

Hello all,

Im moving to hong kong on a placement in the middle of june for a year! very excited!

Just wondering if there is much of a alternative music scene over there? like classic indie (stone roses, charlatans, manic street preachers) and new wave stuff (the libertines, arctic monkeys, kings of leon, mystery jets)

I've been on quite a few websites and HK seems to be a town that loves its house music?

if anybody knows of any bars or clubs that play decent guitar music then let me know

Cheers

Paddy

There are quite regular gigs at the Fringe Club which cover a whole range of music.

It's a shame it's a really cramped venue with terrible sightlines, but it has good stuff there.

There's really not that many places to see live bands here in HK unfortunately. You can start by checking The Wanch in Wan Chai, or Fresco on Peel Street in Soho area. There are a couple of more places here and there, but that's about it. Good luck. Ping me if you like, my husband and I often go SEEK out live music anywhere we can find it.

The more mentions the better!!! Although, getting drunk and dancing to filipino cover bands is a lot of fun, watching live original performances is in a different league.
The local music scene has a number of good bands (IMO) and is getting bigger and better all the time.

hey everybody! thanks for the recomendations

i've been here 5 days know and been out on the town for three of them and i think the closest i've got to live music is a cover band in fenwicks in wan chai, although i suppose the instrumentalist at head kandi could be counted to!

just so that i'm clear is the underground a night that they have at the cavern? i went past there the other night and its seemd pretty cool, the website seems to be saying the right stuff aswell!

if any of you folks fancy meeting up one night for a nit of live music and a few drinks then just et me know!
