| | | US Elections- democracy working? Indiana
Clinton52%
Obama48% North Carolina
Obama 56%
Clinton42%
And then there are the other polls... If Obama gets the nomination, there will be more defections of Clinton supporters to McCain, compared to Clinton getting the nod and Obama supporters defecting to McCain.
So... Apparently... nominating the most popular Democrat will send more votes to the Republicans.
They did it. The Democrats actually figured out a way to lose.
Is it just me or is this whole electoral process the most ridiculous, long winded, most expensive and ludicrously inaccurate in the world- with the possible exception of Zimbabwe? |

| | | I thought the whole process was to delude citizens into believing they had some say as to who will be the next president. |

| | As long as you keep over 90% of the people fed (especially with yummy & fattening junk food), give them Religion or pay-per-view, ESPN, uncensored porn, ability to make fun and complain about everything and if all else fails...sue, then take away "that complex" education and critical thinking.....you can then pretty much then do just about anything
And if all else fails and they finally figure it out ("pay no attention to that man behind the curtain") guess what??? They'll be too damn fat and lazy to do anything about it anyway!!! yuppie!

| | IMO you guys are missing a crucial part of this: what has already occured. The people have already weeded out everyone right of center. McCain, though a republican, is probably the least conservative republican that could have been chosen. Obama is left of center, and Clinton is quite obviously way left of center. You can nitpick between Clinton/Obama and McCain all day long, either way you're seeing a move to the left which was reflected in the primary elections. Weed out process took place already. Quote: |

| As far as it being the most expensive - that makes complete sense as it is probably the most powerful public office you could have. It's really not that inaccurate.....americans wanted to move to the left thus you see left leaning candidates. The electoral college process could be described as inaccurate but not many elections have been that close before 2000 (maybe 5-6). The election process hasen't even started yet - these are just parties choosing their candidates. Maybe they'll start doing all the primaries and caucases at once next time and you'll see primaries becoming bigger then the actual election.

If you can't put up a freaking candidate that even 50% would chose someone with an IQ of a parrot, that counts as a loss... don't even get me started on Kerry.

It might seem odd to simply not vote for someone because they are not pro-life but I have met people who simply will vote on that basis. I also know someone who is very intelligent (one person in particular) who is religious and felt that he couldn't vote for a pro choice candidate in '04 even though he thought he would be better for the country.
