Awesome!
I haven't heard that it was coming to HK but I love Banksy, while I lived in London he had grafittied one of his art works on a wall down the road from me...
Let me know if it's cool and I will make my way down there tomorrow!

Thx

When someone on Geo first mentioned the new TimeOut HK mag, I bought a copy, read 'bout the Banksy exhibition, and sneaked a peek in the Pao Galleries (Arts Ctr).

Impressive - Immediately recalls raw, "edgier" stuff of '90s Britain and before... and still current. Great that HK finally gets a chance to see such works. Somewhat easier to see the exhibition now that it's moved to Schoeni in SoHo (Central).

For those curious, here's a snippet from the TimeOut HK article:

Street-art heavyweights on display in Hong Kong

He’s the undisputed kingpin of the graffiti art movement, but, as his first Asian show hits Hong Kong, Banksy remains a mysterious figure, writes Clare Morin

The rebellious works of the Scarlet Pimpernel of the British art scene are appearing for the first time in Asia this week. Works on door frames, chip board and canvas by Banksy, the world’s most notorious street artist, are appearing at “Love Art” at the Hong Kong Art Centre in a group show that includes pop- and street-art heavyweights Robert Indiana, Romero Britto, Keith Haring and Mel Ramos, and works by Damien Hirst. Despite the big-hitting names on the bill, the biggest draw is the infamous Banksy.

“Banksy is the street art equivalent of a superstar DJ or a super model,” says Jay FC, the founder of the Hong Kong street art collective ST/ART. “He’s just better known than all the others and he’s been around the block a few times and earned his stripes. His importance to the scene is in changing people’s perception of the status that a graffiti/street /urban artist can achieve.”

For those uninitiated in the world of street art, Banksy has been leading a revolution that has seen the art form lift from the realms of vandalism into the echelons of high art in the UK in recent years. Banksy’s work, which first appeared on the streets of Bristol in 1993, was not your normal graffiti rebellion but an intelligent and beautifully rendered attack on modern capitalist life ...

Love Art shows at the Pao Galleries at the Hong Kong Art Centre from Wednesday 23 - Monday 28. Banksy Solo Exhibition opens at Schoeni Art Gallery Apr 30 - May 13.
