I am living with my girlfriend for two months, and any employment would be great since I am taking a break from school in the USA to live with her. However, since I am under a tourist visa, I know I cannot work... legally.

As such, any advice from expats on how to obtain work with decent pay for someone like me?

If you have programming, writing, design skills, there are a lot of jobs available and listed on dozens of sites across the net.

Needless to say, we do not hire freelancers in Hong Kong who are not allowed to work here.
