The walkway across Chater Road will be closed to pedestrians. Also, barricades are being put up along the road..

I am taking the day off to avoid the nightmare. Chill with a beer on the balcony..

I'd like to know what the blue and white 'thug' brigade keep in their bum bags...

Sandwiches?

Male grooming products?

Or perhaps more sinister items?

Anyone willing to have a go at finding out?

Senior Hong Kong officials welcomed the flame ........ as it returned to Chinese soil after a bruising, protest-marred journey overseas.

Hundreds of supporters gathered to see the flame , but blanket security prevented even a glimpse.

Chief Secretary Henry Tang said the flame was the "brightest symbol of hopes and dreams ... It represents universal values that transcend nationality, race, or religion". .... Hong Kong had the responsibility to ensure the "dignified, smooth and orderly progress of the Olympic flame".
Timothy Fok , president of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, said "the people of Hong Kong are proud and privileged to be proud of the history now being made", and that "our passion and our participation will be forever etched in our collective consciousness".
A Leisure and Cultural Services Department spokeswoman said "Since the show is broadcast live through local television stations, we'd like to recommend citizens to watch the performance on TV."

and finally

Mr Tang urged people to dress in red, adding that the relay "will showcase Hong Kong's special character, our beautiful scenery and the vibrancy of our city".

Mama Mia is in Da House!!!!

.....briefly questioned at Chep Lap Kok airport on Thursday before officials allowed her to enter the territory to give a speech criticising China’s relations with Sudan.

Officials let Ms Farrow enter Hong Kong after they asked her not to disrupt the Olympic torch relay on Friday, said Jill Savitt, an activist travelling with the actress.

“They told us what an honour it was for Hong Kong to have the torch relay, so we said we had never intended to and we would not” disrupt it, Ms Savitt told reporters.

Ms Farrow’s visit to Hong Kong was seen as a test of how free the city dared to be while hosting the torch. Officials were under great pressure to ensure a trouble-free relay, and they had deported several activists upon arrival who planned to protest during the Olympic torch relay, scheduled for Friday.

Blocking Ms Farrow from entering Hong Kong would have attracted strong criticism and sullied the city’s reputation for being a base for civil liberties in China.

She plans to speak about Sudan on Friday at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club and possibly join a torch relay protest.

This might be a silly question to ask, but what affect if any, will there be to your work visa if you happen to get arrested for some reason, because you are amongst other protestors that might decide to unleash some a clock work orange style ultra violence onto the torch bearer ? Guilty by association etc ?

Will that affect peoples work status, if they happen to get arrested because they are involved, especially this very hot rock protest ? I dare say very little tolerance is going to be given, if you are charged.
