esmith is on a distinguished road
studying at HKU

Hey!

I'm planning on studying abroad next spring and I wanted to get some advice from past or present HKU students. I want to spend my semester in HK exploring and I don't want a heavy workload or to mess up my GPA. Can anyone recommend courses at HKU that are interesting and not difficult?

Also, although the program discourages it, I want to live independently (not in the halls) while studying at HKU. I was told that it would be very expensive but I don't think it would be much more than what I pay monthly now (about HKD$5000 + utilities). My friend wants to move to HK and we've decided to try and find a place to live together for 5-6 months for HKD$5-7000 near HKU. Any suggestions/advice? I don't mind a small place, but what are apartments like in HK?

Try and send a PM to GoodLocation (or Good_Location.. ) on http://www.geoexpat.com/forum/private.php they frequently have apartments in and around the uni area in the budget you mentioned. Not sure about the quality or size .. but drop 'em a note.
