HK software startup seeking follow on investment Our Hong Kong based photography software startup is seeking follow on investment. We're building an application for advanced amateur digital photographers, primarily DSLR owners. Our target market of advanced amateurs -- estimated at 30 million users -- is largely unaddressed by currently available products. We're bringing to market an innovative new product to satisfy these photographers' needs. Our team of top-notch developers worked together for several years in Silicon Valley prior to forming Software Goodness Limited in Hong Kong. We've received investment from the Hong Kong government's ITC SERAP, and our founders have also invested their own funds. If you have suggestions about where to find investors for exciting new technology in Hong Kong, please reply to this post, or contact Andrei Lissovski at: alissovski *AT* softwaregoodness.com Thank you.

Unfortunately I can't go into detail about our product on public forums due to a confidentiality agreement. Last edited by mlossos; 24-04-2008 at 02:28 PM.

Please don't tell me that the product is called Photo Goodness, ala photogoodness.com which points to the same host as softwaregoodness.com. Not only that you've had it registered for 3 years Did you get the full HK$2 million from ITC? If ever there were big warning signs for failure, you have them. Many DSLR owners think Photoshop is too cheap and gimmicky, hence all the Raw format tools from Nikon and others. Recent years have seen development in photo management with Apple Aperture & Adobe Lightroom, software that is inherently not Internet friendly. So the interest in a website would appear limited, unless it's very expensive, fast, and offers equivalent functionality. This year sees more interest in geo-tagging, cameras such as Ricoh are starting to include GPS tagging equipment. So users can use Picasa with Google Earth, Flickr with Google maps, etc. Creating such cute sites like Flickvision: flickrvision Hong Kong has a lot of wealthy people who are interesting in photography, if your site is really so special it should be easy to ask around for funding. Just join a few local photo clubs, pay for an article in the local photo press.

The ITF SERAP program has funded quite a few successful companies over the years. To name a few: EditGrid, Zensis, InfoWise, KPB. The SERAP program is actually a great way for startups to bridge the gap between founder funding and angel investment or venture capital investment. This thread is supposed to be about finding the latter (angels, VCs) in Hong Kong. Cheers!
