| | | Finally in Sai Kung Hi dear Sai Kung community !
This time we are part of it ! We arrived on last Sunday and we just rented a duplex in Sai Kung, somewhere near the Costa Bello.
As I have been complaining before, I this time would like to say something positiv : we had a very good contact with the agency (T&T Property near McDonalds), with an agent perfectly fluent in English who understood all our expat needs !!! Thanks Rebecca !
We will now arrange for our furniture to be delivered End of this week, beginning of next one.
Anyone commuting from Sai Kung to Kwun Tong ? If you are interested, we could share car/taxi ? Send me a PM...
I won't be longer, but for sure, you will read again later....
And thanks for your help on previous threads, which lead us to Sai Kung

| | | Good to hear that T & T came through for you, as they did for us when we lived there. Makes a very big difference having a professional agent do what they are paid to do.
Where you have chosen to live near Costa Bello, is actually very handy to the old and new part of Sai Kung town, an easy walk to the shops, bars, and the bus terminus, which will make life convenient..
The 2 main watering holes in Sai Kung where expats like to unwind, are the Duke of York in Fuk Man Road, and the new Steamers bar which is now located in Yi Chun Street. There are 2 other bars that arealso popular, the beach bar just past the big round about on your right hand side in the Mah on Shan direction, and Extreme bar which is in the main street opposite the out door furniture and charcoal BBQ shop.
Steamers is your best bet to meet lots of other Sai Kungers though, you'll be net working in no time.
Glad everything finally worked out for you.
PS: Grab a copy of the District Link which is a small whats on printed publication dedicated to the Sai kung area, most of the cafe's and bars distribute copies of it.

I will look for my copy of the District Link tonight....
By the way do you know a good seafood restaurant (a more "western style" one) ?

| | Anthony's catch located in the main road is going to be about the best place. I'd also check out Jaspa's and see what seafood they have, but Anthony's catch will be about it for "western"seafood.
You might want to try and modify the diet a bit there Camka, you're living in hong kong now, do as romans do, or forever be be annoyed. remember that unless the chef and owner of the restaurant is western, chances are the food will be a local adaptation of any food you want to nominate.
Welcome to Hong Kong
PS: Anthonys Catch and Jaspa's are owned by Westerners

Easier to go slightly east!
Anthony's Ranch is also open which is more BBQ and grilled food but I hear they do some good seafood there.
I haven't been but have heard good things.

| | Welcome CamKa and congrats for choosing the best part of HK!
You've had good suggestions for bars and restaurants (and there are so many other great restaurants, I wouldn't know where to start!).
After you've eaten and drunk, we now have a brand new, fully equipped gym in the red building on your walk home from town (Lifestyle Fitness). It's something that many of us have been hoping for for a long time.
Skyhook mentioned picking up a "District Link" but you'd be looking for a long time for that (it was a government-sponsored publication that died a few years ago). I think he's referring to "Explore Sai Kung" - a freebie available all around town (we've also got a website).
We've also got a shop with hiking maps and books all about the flora, fauna & culture of the area just around the corner from Steamers.
Happy unpacking

| | | Judy- I've heard some pretty steep prices for Lifestyle Fitness, do you know what they're looking at or is this just Chinese whispers!
Do they have a website? | |

| | | Well, yesterday we tried some chinese style seafood, and that was excellent ! I must say that the Hong Kong cooking style is better than the real chinese one....
I tried some seafood in other regions, but they often cook it with a sauce and taste always the same...
Does anyone commute from Sai Kung to Kwun Tong ?
Or do you know a private/taxi driver that would arrange a special price for a daily trip ?
JUDY - I will probably visit your shop very soon as we love hiking !!!
