How do you get rid of furniture?

Ok, so here's the scenario, we bring everything with us, get there, can't fit certain items in the flat we decide to rent, how do you get rid of your furniture in HK? (other than selling because it would be a matter of getting rid of it quickly)...many thanks!

Where ever you live you know the size and dimensions of the elevator so that you can get the furniture to your flat...unless you pay ALOT of extra cash for it to be carried up the stairwell. Otherwise the furniture may never make it your flat.

You'd be surprise how fast furniture sells on the expat pages in Hong Kong!

The other way is you can store it in a storage unit.

The building you rent from the property manager will know of some people who will come and collect it typical cost ranges from hk$0 to hk$100. These people then typically turn around and sell it on their own.

Alternatively, Crossroads might well be interested in it if you feel like helping a good cause. They have a list on the site of what they can use at the moment and details of how to get it to them.

we used storage house for our overflow -

they are on the island near kennedy town - they were by far the nicest (although most expensive) storage I found, very clean and neat and well maintained. But not cheap. HKD1,000pcm for a unit large enough for a few pieces of furniture piled up.
