You can also scratch out Baguio. Nothing available in 30K.

Also be aware that many outdoor swimming pools in apartment complexes are only open 6 months of the year.

Thanks for that.

The apartments people are saying to scratch off because of price though, they actually came up in the listings in the price range...are there hidden extra's that I would not be aware of - is that why you're saying they're not available?

Would probably only swim 6mths of the year so that's ok...

mumto2 - just the basic rent. Where are you looking at these prices? I'd highly recommend looking at a real estate agent's site .. and not one of the consolidator sites like gohome.com.hk

Landscope.com
Property Agency in Hong Kong - Midland Realty

Should give you a much better picture of whats out there.

For example, even though Baguio has apartments listed in the 1100 range on gohome, the agents here will tell you there are none that are really available.

I'm living at Bel Air Ph2, 1600sqft and renting for HKD55k/mth and another HKD2.5k for car park rental (separate owner) Signed the lease in Nov 07. I understand prices have gone up but if I take the maths of 800sqft (50% of 1600sqft), then 30k could be enough. However, I'm not sure if the 800sqft ones are 2 or 3 bedrooms though. All the best in your search. Where are you and hubby originally from?

I'm really not sure there is a significant difference in air quality between, say, a 30th floor apartment in Ap Lei Chau and a 30th floor apartment in Kennedy Town...

Really? So you think walking the kids around outside would be pretty much the same in both places?

If you're walking next to a street full of traffic then I don't think it really matters where that street is.
