Ouch! That may be a touch harsh...
I agree that many of us who teach English in HK (or elsewhere in Asia), could do much MORE to "upgrade" our own English first, for example, through teacher training and getting the expected credentials to do the job "properly"; however, that doesn't curb the HUGE demand for "native English speakers" here - especially for
caucasians.
Often hear of instances of people, hopping off planes here, fancying "the HK life", and soon landing in decent-paying teaching posts, armed only with a TEFL, from a short course.
Supply & demand - while, somewhat, neglecting "quality"? But, oops, shouldn't judge (?)... when every case is different.
