Teaching

Hi,
I was wondering if I could possibly get some information about teaching in HK.
I have been teaching In Thailand for about 6 years, and I am looking to move on to a new country (HK). I have a TEFL but no real degree, so I was wondering if it is possible for me to find employment easily without the sufficient paperwork.

Thanks

Jason

If you do not have sufficient paperwork then, by definition, you will not be able to get the job. If you own a dictionary I suggest you go and look up "sufficient" in it.

The quality of the English used by some of the people who teach it these days is really very saddening.

Ouch! That may be a touch harsh...

I agree that many of us who teach English in HK (or elsewhere in Asia), could do much MORE to "upgrade" our own English first, for example, through teacher training and getting the expected credentials to do the job "properly"; however, that doesn't curb the HUGE demand for "native English speakers" here - especially for caucasians.

Often hear of instances of people, hopping off planes here, fancying "the HK life", and soon landing in decent-paying teaching posts, armed only with a TEFL, from a short course.

Supply & demand - while, somewhat, neglecting "quality"? But, oops, shouldn't judge (?)... when every case is different.
