| MBA - HKUST or HKU? I am from Singapore and currently i have offers from both HKU and HKUST for full time MBA. Both are great schools and i am having a hard time choosing which school to choose. HKUST seems to be better in ranking than HKU but HKU has a partnership with London Business School and Columbia Business School which seems really attractive. Can anyone tell me what are the benefits of the partnership over the exchange program in HKUST? Part of the HKUST includes about 3 months of internship, but HKU does not. Does internship make a lot of difference if i am looking for a career switch? Anyone knows whether the employers prefer HKUST or HKU MBA students? I would be happy to hear any advice or first-hand information of the 2 schools as well. |

| HKUST. ![]() ust's putting much resources in developing business school and partnerships. it's still very young compare to HKU. last year, UST ranked the 1st in the world in EMBA course, with Kellog Business School. and MBA ranked the 17th globally. ![]() With exchange, UST has UPenn, UCLA, Carnegie Melon. awww there're too many partnerships i dont remember. hope it helps. i know there're bias. i can't help as an alumni. |

| Hi Asian, Thanks for your reply. So you are a HKUST FT MBA alumni? how was the professors/courses and did the MBA help in your career? Generally do employers prefer the HKUST MBA students or HKU students? Is it guaranteed that all the MBA students taking the 16month program will get to go on exchange? and is it very hard to get into a top US school for exchange? |

This should be an easy choice. HKUST by miles! While HKU is old and prestigious that is only for lets say Law and Medicine, not business. HKU partnerships are nothing more than an exchange program when you look at it closely. Last edited by copernicus; 20-04-2008 at 12:57 PM. |

| Another way to do this is seek out Alumni who have completed in the past year as well as 3-5 years ago. Talk with them ... either exchange e-mails or via telephone or in person fine out how their degree helped them to get where they are now or did not help. Also, find out about their impression of the courses and the lecturers as well as the overall program. |

as far as business schools are concerned i doubt HKU will ever come clost\e to HKUST, if anything the gap between the two will widen as HKUST Science and Tech projects/research come to prominence once the Insitute for Advanced Studies is fully up and running. Well said that HKU is great in educating lawyers, doctors and teachers, but for business in Hong Kong, UST is the clear choice. |
