My old company has sent e my inland revenue tax form saying that i am leaving HK. I am simply changing jobs and have told them that, however, they insist that they are doing the right thing.

I will now have to pay my tax early as they have said i am leaving....how do i stop this happening(ie me paying tax early).

the old company are being difficult and wont give me any advice.

Have you actually contacted the IRD yet? If not, do so and get it sorted out.

As long as you do have a job offer from another company and some paperwork with Immigration showing that your visa is being transfered to the new company, you'll be ok.

Your old employer is just erring on the side of caution (because they can get fined if they don't do this and you do subsequently leave HK without clearing your tax bill).

Email the tax office (enquiry@ird.gov.hk) to explain the situation, quoting your tax details and providing whatever evidence you have to support your claim (transfer of sponsorship application if you are on an employment Visa, job offer/contract from new employer, etc). IRD have always been very responsive & reasonable in my experience.
