Medical Insurance

We're moving to Hong Kong August 1, family of 5 (one 4 yo and 20 mo twins).

I have no idea what I should do about medical insurance. Should I take an expat insurance in my home country, get local insurance (and if so, where and what).

Medical costs are higher in HK than in my home country. We had that issue when we lived in the States (but had US PPO insurance in the end).

Any suggestions and/or experiences are more than welcome.

TIA.

P.S. I don't need any maternity coverage (I am more than done ), so the waiting period is not an issue.

Treatment in the public system in HK costs HK$100 per visit so it's hardly expensive. That's where you will end up for anything serious anyway. The only thing that medical insurance gets you here really are hotel facilities in the hospital and a certain amount of queue-jumping for non-acute situations.
