Smile bring overseas experience back to America

While I'm in Hong Kong last week I got an offer as a Production Planner or Production Engineer from AVNET.com(HONG KONG Branch) which require to work in Hong Kong however, will the American's company accept my experience like 1-2 years from now? Headquarter locates in Arizon. My worries are what if the US won't be interested/accept the job nature at Avnet(hong kong) then I'll be stuck in Hong Kong and won't able to use my 2 experiences and to advance my career in America!
How can I get expereince from Hong Kong and then work in the US in the future?
Please help! *I was born in Hong Kong and also US citizen.

avnet.com Avnet Inc.

Graduated in May,2007 UofArizona
Major: Engineering Management (six sigma)
minors: mandarin & Industrial Engineering

best Regards and thanks

My guess is that you'll be fine so long as the work you're doing is related to your field. Experience is probably what counts right now and it seems like it's something you're needing. Besides, firms these days are all about "international experience", and experience in Asia should be a plus in the years to come.

At the same time, does the firm pay well? I've heard of new grads getting paid peanuts so maybe you'd rather get "overseas" experience first and then head back as an "expert". Isn't the US in short supply of engineers? Aren't there all these career fairs to snatch you guys up? Anyway, I've always found being a non-US citizen to be the largest impediment to working there and it's obviously not the case for you.

Hey I am SUNDEVIL but I will give a hand to a WILDCAT

With the growth of markets here leads to the growth of industries. However, skills sets and knowledge in certain areas are limited so often companies like to mix their personnel so they can learn and contribute to eachother's knowledge. This is what is happening in China right now with other MNCs also located in Arizona like INTEL & MOTOROLA ... they are bring people from AZ to China and vice versa (if all visa's are accepted). Then after 18 months to a year everyone goes back to there place of origin and the idea is that they learnings will be transferred.

So in the case of AVNET if you are able to transfer /share the lesson you have gained to the offices here in HK then return to the USA to transfer/share practices learned in HK then YES... you have then become a highly valuable employee as soft skills are offer a greater challenge to transfer and learn as they are not black and white like the hard skills.

Now go have a good MARGARITA with some greasy Mexican food for me at Macayo's on Ash ... as I know it will not be the same if you were to bring it with you when you come over here.

Hey guys, thanks for all your wonderful input!
I acepted the job offer and so far so good. Like I get to learn SAP, Excel for scheduling, outlook, release order, routing, the whole production process, etc.
This field I believe would be in the Logicstic field since there are many diff field for Industrial engineer such as Banking, health, manuf, etc. But which field is more fun and potential? please feel free to share your thoughts
I want to start planning for my next step in the US job market, which field would you guys recommend for my background and education?
