kur0mi has pissed of a few people
Thanks very much for your help and the websites you have provided. I have joined the SPCA member in Sai Kung. I might pop in their tomorrow on my day off and ask them. You seemed very experienced, you have pets of your own?

Yes looks like he has recovered but after recovering hes super naughty. He plays so much and running around so much that sometimes I would have to stop him from playing and running around and just let him lie in my arms and wait for him to catch his breath for a few minutes before letting him play again.

Puppies normally have loads and loads of energy. Sometimes I'll bring my puppy down for 30 mins brisk walk to tire her out so that she'll calm at home. I bring her to the dog run as well so that she'll run and play with the other dogs. There are times that we make her run and run till she's really tired! Puppies normally act up because they have too much energy. It's just like kids. My puppy does her little grand prix thingy at home when we don't bring her down enough. But having said that, if your puppy can't go down yet, have patience and spend time with him or her. Too much scolding may not be good as the dog can get immune to it.

You mean they have too much energy! hahaha I want to take him out for walks when I come home for work instead of keeping him at home all the time which is boring for him but at the moment he has only had 1 injection, his 2nd one is not until next week so I was advised not to take him out the house in case he catches any bad germs that other dogs has left behind. Every day when I get home from work my energy is only 20% left and hes like 200% charged. I brought him a little ball last night and he was just chasing after that all night!

Not here in HK as I travel too much and my schedule does not allow me the ability to be able to care for a dog.

Although, growing up had two small dogs a Bichon Frise, a peak-a-poo cross breed, and a larger Rhodesian Ridge Back.

I have a poodle at home. And yes, she has that much energy! I do feel guilty, like you, when I get home, I'm tired and all I want to do is to watch telly and the apartment is too small for her to run around. So I drag my feet and bring her down and let her exhaust her energy so that we can have a peaceful night.

my house has enough space for him to run around as we live at clear water bay, those 3 storey village houses, we live at the bottom floor. But my maid is a ver decicated muslim and in her religion they are not allowed to touch or own dogs. Shes there for looking after my elderly gran ma so my poor pup has to be in his crate unless I am at home to let him run round as much as he likes or when another person is there to supervise him when I am not there. I plan to get a play pen for him tonight so apart from at night he sleeps in the crate he can usually run round the pen and in and out of the crate when he wants to when I am at work as he has a habit of only going to the toilet on a nappy rather than other places I feel comfortable letting him run round. I had this idea of getting the pen before but thought he wasn't ready yet but for the last few night playing in my room when he needs to go he would sit by the door making noises that he needs to go out and he then goes straight back in to release himself before continuing playing. I hope giving him more space would make him feel more comfortable and stop his rampage moods whenever he gets the chance to come out. Anyone has anymore ideas or you think this could work?

[Not to change topic but my understanding is more aligned to the following ....]

Actually, many Muslims have misunderstood Islam’s teachings regarding dogs, and this misunderstanding has led to the mistreatment of these animals. The Prophet said, “Purifying a container that a dog has licked (in order for human’s to use it) is done by washing it seven times, the first washing being with dirt.”

However, according to some scholars, a dog’s fur is considered pure. Nonetheless, Muslims are discouraged from keeping dogs inside their homes, as the Prophet has been reported as saying that angels do not enter into a house that has a dog.

Although, just because one does not keep a dog inside the home and doesn’t drink after it, that does not give one the right to neglect it, mistreat it, or kill it. The usefulness of this creature of God is indisputable. No other animal can compete with it in its loyalty to its caregiver, its abilities as a guard, and its talent for hunting. In fact, the Qur’an narrates in Surat Al-Kahf, or “The Cave,” the story of some pious youths who took refuge in a cave from the persecution and violence of the unbelievers. That these righteous people had a dog with them, and the fact that Allah mentions the dog and counts the dog among them, indicates that dogs are permitted to live among people. [And you would have thought them awake, whereas they were asleep. And We turned them on their right and on their left sides, and their dog stretching forth his two forelegs at the entrance (of the cave as a guard)] (Al-Kahf 18:18).

Alby, you sure know alot of things. I'm not sure what muslim religion's rules are but thats what she said from the very start. Thats why I take care of my dog myself every morning and every night no matter how tired I am from work.

on a separate note...

PLEASE do NOT buy a pram for your dog. even small dogs need exercise and it is utterly ridiculous to see dogs being walked in a pram!

a great way to "tire" your dog out so it doesn't destroy your home is EXERCISE!

we board dogs and can tell you that it is usually the small dogs that cause problems. owners think of them as "children" not dogs and this can create a whole mess of problems. the small dogs are often allowed to cause chaos and bark incessantly because they are small. there's no way an owner would put up with a ridgeback (absolutely LOVE these dogs!) causing such mayhem!

good luck!

I am afraid that maybe you misinterpreted my reason for telling you ... as many people perceive also that Muslims mistreat animals. The purpose for passing on this tidbit of information was more to put your mind at ease.
