Oasis Liqiudation - Refunds / Chargebacks / FAQs

Just seen a snippet on SCMP that reports Oasis will shut down Wednesday. That either means today or next week.

I had thought they where doing OK. If true it has to be a fuel cost issue that has got others in the US market.

Also, if true, its a shame. Although I will not fly with them because of the LGW mess, I did once and it was great service from the team. Others also have reported the same.

From today's HK Economic Times:

Quote:
-- Local airline Oasis Hong Kong, launched in Oct. 2006, is said to be running out of business and will stop flying from today. The airline has reportedly accumulated losses of as much as HK$1 billion. Sources say more than HK$1 million in losses is incurred on each flight Oasis operates.
If it does have accumulated costs of HK$1 billion, its troubles go beyond fuel costs...

Which many of us had said from day 1.

Anyways, not that I care.

All I can say is, no airlines that has advertised on GeoExpat has ever gone bankrupt.

Just surfed some airline forums, seems to be more than just rumors.

.... now I am wondering if tickets will be refunded. With a billion dollar losses? Any chance?

If you paid by credit card the card company will refund.

Oasis are IATA ( ? ) bonded so that means something also, you need to check.

Checked with the best of all husbands - he works next door to the Oasis office in Tung Chung. Here is what he had to say:

Interesting. All the Oasis lot are hanging around outside waiting for a press release. Rather sad.

All the news wires are saying that.

My folks are presently on route to HK on Oasis, how they get back to the UK is anyone's guess.
