| How far in advance to look for an apartment? I'm trying to figure out when to take our housing trip to HK? How far in advance our apts available? If we go in May, will we find apts available for July 1st or August 1st. I just don't want to go too early, find something we like & the timing now workout. The company will cover up to 60days housing, so that will help too. Any advice? |

| Apartments tend go within 2-4 weeks time of people seeing them. Usually in 2 weeks if no decorations are required and 4+ weeks if some work is required. It is not unusual for people to see an apartment in the morning, make an offer in the afternoon and sign the preliminary agreement on acceptance (same day or next).

| How long is your "housing trip"? Personally, if you don't know Hong Kong well I would say you would need a couple of weeks to get a feel for the different areas, and then perhaps another week to find and complete the paperwork for a place that works for you, and you will be able to move in anywhere between the next day and about a month later, depending on the circumstances of the place. Since your company will pay for up to 60 days accommodation then I would just take that in a hotel or serviced apartment when you arrive properly and not take a separate housing trip as such. |
