My husband (US passport) travels to and from Shenzhen almost daily. His visa (business) is valid until September, but his colleague's is expiring now. The colleague is a senior-level manager, and he has researched the issue thoroughly, including having a meeting with the Mayor of SZ to complain. All of his research and feedback has turned up a resounding NO GO for getting a multi entry, and as a result, he is shopping for a second apartment in SZ. I guess his last resort is to return to the US and try to get it there. I hope it is truly resolved by mid-October, so it only impacts my husband for a month.

hwoolf: when they say mid-oct dont be suprised of any delay etc

I AM ON THE VERGE OF FAINTING

so scenario now:
no multi visa only way is to apply for single or double entry

1) anything else we can do or try or just sulk and wait?

2) was thinking to head overseas to apply for one but has anyone try this method yet?

Has anyone sucessfully obtain China multi-entry visa outside of HK? ie. At Chinese consulate or embassy in US, Singapore, Australia etc.

In looking at Visa information and news on the US Consulate in San Francisco there isn't any mention of multi-entry visa ban.

This is the 2nd point I made in my post above and seems like the only hope I have.
Lets keep our fingers crossed and see if anyone has any info or success.

My wife just crossed the border in Shenzhen (Lo Wu). She holds a US passport and a 1yr multi-entry tourist Visa (expiring at the end of August). She did not have any problems, the visa was NOT canceled or converted to Single/Double entry...that rumor has no merit.

Additionally as I mentioned in my earlier post my niece has just applied for a 1-yr multi entry Visa in the Chinese embassy in US (Chicago). She will have her passport back on Monday (US time) and I will post here as soon as I can confirm if the multi-entry visa was successfully issued.

Maybe we should do a protest at the burning stick procession on 2nd May. This one would be directly related to the olympics - after all isn't that the reason behind the changes......

We're all getting in and out of China ok and that's a mix of Brits, Septics, Aussies and Filipino's. No changes to visa status.

Funnily enough I have received a email reply today from the Office of the Commissioner for the Ministry....blah, blah....which simply says "at present there is no multiple entry visas". That actually is a direct copy and paste from my email!

Hi Spikey.

I am told that both London and Manchester visa offices are also declining applications as well. Also, whereas Australians andsome others have enjoyed a visa office at the landing ports - these are all closed now too! I came in FuYong (Shenzhen) port this morning and all the shutters are down!

God bless china - NOT!

Actually the ban started at embassy outside of HK about 1 month ago before it hit HK.

In early March, I sent my passport out of HK to get 1 year visa because HK only allowed me 6 months. The silly travel agent decided to proceed with a 2 entry because of she says its a new ruling and better that I have a visa than none!!!

So I decided to use up the 2 entry before applying again last Friday, and thats when I realised I'm majorly screwed. Talk about bad timing
