BenderLives will become famous soon enough
The Visa notification letter was not needed in my case. I only presented "RETURN" tickets from china to HK via bus (60HKD each), a letter from a China Factory stating i will do business in China with them over the next year, and my business card with application and photo.

with all that i went to Tsuen Wan CTS office and obtained a 2 entry F visa, valid for 3 months. It was about 1500HKD total.

i am also afraid of all these issues
i have India passport, no HKID, a frequent visitor to Shenzhen and Hong Kong and have Multiple Entry 1 year F visa valid till March 2009,
i hope i can pass the rough weathers that Olympics have created, but scared about the rumors of cancellation of any currently valid VISA also..
i am sure not a single person i know who didn't have valid visa was able to get the elusive letter from "relevant authorities" in china

and yes, i have an Egyptian friend whose visa was canceled, but he had 30 days an each entry and he was staying like 28-29 days and then go to Hong Kong and return next day to get another 30 days, so they told him that you are "LIVING" here, and your visa is not for this purpose

Just was informed that HK Permanent Resident holding BNO passport was sent back home from Shenzhen checkpoint. He was holding 3 year multiple visa expiring September 2009

Exactly! As I have said before, if you have all the documents that China requires then you can still get multi-year entry visa. The only difference is that now (because of Olympics) China is sticking to the rules. Your friend was clearly breaking the rules of his visa.

Neha can you tell me more?
he had F category visa?
did they give any reason for refusal to enter?
he wasn't allowed to enter or what ?
did they cancel his visa or just didn't allow him to enter?

Regards
Syed

First-hand info please

Given the length and breadth of this thread, I think we would all like to know if anyone holding a valid L multiple-entry visa has been refused entry or had the visa cancelled after 1st July. Not what may have happened to someone else. Has anyone tried to go from Hong Kong to Shenzhen with a multi L and been refused entry?

I went today to Shenzhen and back as well as on Monday (holding a multiple F visa valid until Feb. 2009). Both times a smooth sailing, smiles and no questions asked.

My husband went in last week and came out yesterday on a multi-entry tourist visa (American passport) which expires in October. No problems and business as usual. He goes back in this coming Monday so we'll see what happens then.
