hopefully this is good news though, and we can all relax and get back to work. as much as i enjoy the lack of travels, i need to get back in there...or at least know that i can get back in there when needed

btw...ive never had a 6 month work visa...its always been 1 year visas for the multi-entry.
Lets see if your info was correct - this surely would be some relief.....btw I did not mean 6 month Z (work visa) I did mean 6 month F multiple - a 6 month work visa is not existing it is always 1 year

Under the scheme before HKID holders had a choice between 6 month and 1 yr. My last one was a year. If you had a Perm HKID you could apply for a 2 yr visa AND if you applied in outside of HK in your resident country you could get a 3 yr visa.

On the surface very good news. Lets just see what riders are put on it when it works its way through the system and IF it over rules the present system.

You CAN get a multi entry F visa according to the regulations and posted on the web site. HOWEVER you can't get the supporting documents to apply. Catch 22.
BTW our corporate travel agent hasn't heard any news in relation to this yet.

its the same crap "it IS possible to get the visa....but actually getting the supporting documents is near impossible and no garuntee."

just an update.

i'm going to china for work, so got work to sort out a visa. as i understand it the rules for a visa are travel tix and hotel stay, which is all fine. however i got them to get me a double entry visa.

for the first entry i have all the required information, however not for the second entry (because i don't know when i'm going to use it). however despite that i got a double entry visa.

now for my second trip (which i'm planning as just a day trip at some point in the future to sz), will i need to show the immigration officials some sort of proof of transport and/or accommodation?

Well a couple of us started the process for the Z visa last Friday, which basically meant a load of filling in forms, a trip to the photo shop for around 20 pics and then later on down to Luo Hu for a medical which was real production line stuff........Blood pressure, Eye test, Chest X-ray, ECG, Ultra sound and blood test, oh and the finale...piss in a small bowl, all in around 10 - 15 minutes. Luckily no lubricated digits in rubber gloves probing nether regions.....

Back this Friday and having to stay for a week to finalise visa / residents card, etc. Let's see what happens......
