| | | No one is questioning China's right to issue visas to who they want, but they way that they have implemented it is nothing short of disgraceful.
This letter from "Song Ronghua, spokesperson, Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" (typical stupid title) is typical of the rhetortic the Hong Kong government spews out when they need to make a comment, but don't actually want to say anything which is remotely in line with reality.
I especially love the comment about: "Our visa officers are working long extra hours to ensure applicants can get visas on time. If you come and witness how hard they work, you would not leave untouched." Yeah, thanks for that.

| | | This from the visa website
"To apply for single or double entry business and visit visa
(1) Visa Notification Form issued by the relevant department
of Chinese government or the government-authorized company;
(2)A copy of Chinese hotel booking;
(3)A copy of return flight ticket booking;
To apply for multiple-entry business visa, Visa Notification Form issued by authorized Foreign Affairs Office or Bureau of Commerce(original),together with Hong Kong Permanent ID card (original and photocopy) and other possible supporting documentation( Registration Certificate of your company in China, etc) are needed. Multiple-entry visa is issued at the discretion of the consular officers. "
Well - part 1 has changed from just needing a letter ( was an original for multi entry ) from the China company
Also the statement about multi entry states clearly a PERMANENT HKID. So what about us lot with Residence HKID ?
There is lots of mentions about forms I have never heard of and no details exist on the visa application page of the website.
WTF is designated as authorised? Where is that info locked away?
Confused - Moi ? Oui !! | |

| | | Visa notification form is only issued to WFOE or JV in China
WFOE = WHOLLY FOREIGN OWNED ENTERPRISE
JV = Joint Venture
MEans this is only workable for a max of 10% applicants. "Normal F Visa" is not really existing anymore for application in HK - they will issue you a L visa restricted to a "place/city"
China still welcomes foreigners (but maybe not now - if they are not visitors to the olympics)
There is some blog called chinavisablog - withs ome more infos about all this mess
Thanks | |

Thanks | So - yet again I have to ask a poster - Where is the link / reference to this information. The official source and not some blog. UPDATE - It appears this blog is the work of the quoted reference - so WHERES YOUR REFERENCE ???
UPDATED UPDATE -- It appears the blog quotes a briefing by Becky Xia of Fragomen Immigration consultancy based in Shanghai -- given to AMCHAM in Shanghai on April 29th . This is the problem with bloggers. They just write down the source and don't check out the accuracy. I am going to have to contact the company to get the relevant information source. My own e mails to the visa office in HK remain unanswered after weeks and after the change in the visa application posted on the site -- I have got my people in China looking at it through my political contacts.

Confused - Moi ? Oui !! | Hi,I was confused that if a person have PERMANENT HKID, does him/her still need visa to enter China? Can him/her apply for the "returning home pass" in HK?
My company is having very large investment in China But I dont know how they perceive it. It can be considered as quite reputable foreign company in China but as a managers from the company I am not sure whether apply multiple entry visa is still "feasible" for us who have to travel to our China plants and offices for meetings.

Only permanent Hong Kong residents of Chinese origin can do that.

| | | I have a question.
My local HK friend has a friend with a flat in Zhongshan which we can rent for a couple of nights some weekend she is not using it.
Can I still get a single entry China visa and go there for a weekend without proof of return airline flights or hotel booking there? TIA

| | | Well our government contacts cannot bend so far to help with the issues of F visa but they do believe they can help with Z visas. So tomorrow go up to sort the first of the paperwork and the health certificate (I'll take my own KY...)
Then the following Friday I go up again and hand in my passport and wait for a week there to get it back.
Now there are no guarantees this will work but we're giving it a go. I'll let you all know what happens.........

Are you planning on coming back out to HK and then re-entering China? If so, you would need an additional visa on top of the Z visa, or you would need to apply for residency in China.
Let me know...as I was thinking of this option as well. | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 03:54 PM.
