I don't believe so. You got your visa with just your passport so you should be fine until they change further rules.
There were several multiple entry visas that were only issued to permanent HKID holders (2 years for example).
I still don't understand the whole story because a permanent HKID doesn't become invalid.

I"m in the same situation as you and going to cross the border later today (picking somebody up at HK airport). Should my multiple F visa get revoked, I'll put it on the board for sure.

Hoping for the best though

Be careful of misinformation floating around here. For one thing, there are circumstances under which a Hong Kong Permanent Residence status can be revoked--including staying away for more than three years. Anyone can check to see if that's still true, but it was when I applied and received mine. Of course someone might still have the physical I.D. card but that doesn't mean the status is still valid. For another thing, the immigration people in China (not in Hong Kong) shouldn't have the authority to ask for a Hong Kong I.D. card, should they? And finally, some of the posters undoubtedly have good intentions but are withholding key details, such as nationality, type of visa, etc. So without complete and transparent info, who will ever know--and in the confusion of the past month, who will know anyway? We have to wait for a string of posts that go along the lines of "Yay! I got a new 3-year multiple-entry L visa." We can hope.

Travel Advisory from CX Website

Policy Change on Xiamen Entry
Passengers who are eligible for visa-on-arrival in Xiamen should note that such an arrangement is currently suspended (from 25 April 2008) until 16 October 2008.

Passengers holding passports issued by visa-exempt countries such as Singapore, Japan and Brunei continue to enjoy visa-exempt entry into Xiamen.

Current policies for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan visitors remain unchanged.

========
but on the other hand, there was previous news that
the Foreign Affairs Ministry announced that Singaporeans travelling to China from July 1 would need a visa.

quite confusing. isn't Xiamen a part of China?

Xiamen

1) Sure Xiamen belongs to China
2) The regulation for Singapore passport holders only starting from 1st of July - so maybe somebody there in Xiamen thinks it is too early to announce now that from July 1st the 15 day visa free is suspended until mid October for people from Singapore.
3) What is the policies for HK, Taiwan + Macao residents which remain unchanged....?

Have also suggested she checks out the Chinese Embassy in London.

Any ideas for any of the above..

Many Thanks.

I have been advising all my friends if they can better to get a visa in their home country...to save frustration ... rather have them enjoy their stay than not ...

As for hotel's ... I suggest this one just near the new MixC mall and not too far from LoWu. It is well kept good value. Not to mention the website does fairly accurately represent what it really is ...

Update to Tourist Day Visa

My Australian friends who have a blue card in Macau but not an ID were told they could get a day visa as long as they had 5 (five) people instead of 3 and no one could "scratch off" on the entry. After they stood in line for about 2 hours to get to the agent they were told they MUST have a tour guide and were turned away. They were entering Zhuhai. They had a friend that spoke Chinese to talk the commander and he said they just initiated the tour guide requirement...so no more day trips unless you hire a tour guide.

I just figured out why they are being hard on the visas. They know the only chance any of there athletes have to win the Olympics is if no other countries show up so they win by default.

That was my theory from the start. I figure the restrictions would get tighter and tigher and then around May/June they would announce no one could get a visa and the Chinse would win gold silver and bronze - in everything - as they are the only ones allowed to go to Beijing....
