That's more or less what I was trying to convey by the word "current".

Macau, like HK, is a SAR, therefore this ban won't apply.

Just as the Canton Fairs are about to start and we are getting loads of people here to transit. Getting the visa being traditionally got here as its easier to do it here than say in UK unless you live in London or Manchester. How would someone know that they cannot get a visa here now ?

This is ridiculous based on farcicle.

FYI
I have run off an e mail to Invest HK to see what they would do.

someone mentioned that shenzhen border visas has been suspended some weeks ago.

i suspect that these restrictions has something to do with the upcoming olympics somehow.

I've spoken with a few people from the US who are here in Canton for the fair and they haven't heard anything about this visa ban.

Ban on multiple Entry Visas

Hi, I hold Irish passport. I applied yesterday for a same day visa at a travel office in Wan Chai (Sunshine travel, China resource bld), they were one of the few who were allowed do same day. I got the visa (Tourist, dbl entry only of course!), but was told that the rules for application are changing from today, 15th Apr. Applicants must now show an air ticket and hotel bookings, making it next to impossible for people who are regular visitors.
I was also told there that the visa application office at Lowu has closed, all applications go through the embassy in Wan Chai. We need to get our embassies and foreign press to put pressure on this issue.

I thought these visas had been suspended? Can anyone else confirm that they are available?

Also any information on whether the hotel book and return flight regulation is being enforced? (China visa office)

And, Visa Office says you got to be a HK resident to apply - does that just mean in person, or can someone use an agent to apply?

Finally, are Chinese visas at HKIA suspended or still possible?

Cheers for any info.
