Made a trip to HMV and the price of DVDs are way higher than Amazon (around twice as expensive). Where do you guys buy your DVDs from? I think given how much they cost here, it might even be cheaper for me to buy from Amazon and have them shipped to here...

Hmmm well many people go to Shenzhen ... same person/same place for over 6yrs now ... any problems bring it back and exchange ... but there are some legality things that are not so well you know....

Well, you do, but.... I don't know your wholesaler's prices, but your price for one season of Angel is 480HK$. I just bought the entire set (five seasons) from Amazon.com for 80$ incl shipping, which usually takes 5 days. That is 640HK$. I'd second the OP - prices here are surprisingly high, especially given the competition from the counterfeit dealers in Lo Wu....

er2 - would be interested to get the UPC (the numbers at the bottom of the barcode) for that Angel set from you. We know Amazon gets special deals on bestsellers and has some specially created sets .. but on the whole tend to be pretty price competitive with them.

If you buy DVD's from Amazon what country code will they be assigned to? I am looking to buy DVD's that ultimately I can bring back to the US with me.

That would depend on which Amazon site you buy from. Amazon US would ship out REgion 1 and Amazon UK would ship out Region 2.

Or you can just get a Region free DVD player which they sell here, and there are places that sell them in the US too, in which case it doesn't matter what region the DVD is.

This region-coding thing is the most retarded and self-serving concept the movie industry ever came up with. I buy original DVD's but things like this makes me want to stop doing that...
