Visa for Medical/Healthcare

hello there,
I am a filipino currently working here as MLT(Medical Laboratory Technologist) in the Philippines also a Registered one in Hongkong.
I got the License as MLT Part II by the Board of Hongkong 3 years ago and I will be in Hongkong next week. I just want to seek an advise first from you out there on what kind of visa is right for me because I want to have a longer visa.(Philippine passport holder normally gets 14 days visa ).Do you think that License can help me stay longer or can I apply for an employment visa. Also is it hard to find a job in medical/healthcare area ?

I don't see how having a HK qualification is going to make any difference to what type of visa you get. You can only apply for an employment visa if you have a specific job offer - the employer must be your sponsor for the Employment Visa application.

I notice also that HK MLT practice certificates are only good for one year and expire unless renewed (The Medical Laboratory Technologists Board)

I know that HK is desperately short of nurses, but I'm not sure about lab staff. However, I do see that there are quite a lot of MLT vacancies on some recruitment sites, e.g. MLT jobs in Hong Kong - recruit.net

I don't know whether the Immigration Department would grant an Employment Visa for such jobs, but I guess the only way to find out is to try.

Yes - in practice there is no problem applying for jobs while you are on a tourist visa (but don't tell Immigration you are coming to do that - tell them you are on holiday).

You should be OK to extend your stay by another 14 days once or twice by going to Shenzhen for a few hours - you can get a visa at the border - and then returning.
