well I apologise if I caused any offence, but my advice still stands. Assessing what you want in a dog and what you are willing/able to do in terms of care is a much better way of choosing than based on the 5 most popular breeds. A list which changes according to what's fashionable at present BTW. However asking advice on which breeds are most adaptable to HK living conditions/weather is a better question than what's 'popular'.

I agree XI_YAN that maybe my question was posted wrong. I am not going to buy a dog based on "what's popular". I am trying to find the best breed for us but was curious as to whether these dogs are popular in HK. I should have asked "which breeds are most adaptable to HK living conditions/weather". A couple I have considered don't seem good for HK's weather - especially the heat/humidity.

Got a puppy Well we decided that we didn't want to wait the 5 years until we got to Hong Kong before getting a dog so we continued our search. On the weekend we went to a breeder of miniature dachshunds and yeserday we brought home a 8.5 week old puppy. This is our first day with her and it's alot of work but also alot of fun. I want to thank everyone for your advice. I will be back to get more when we are ready to move.
