Firefox Updates

Has anyone updated to Mozilla Firefox 3 Beta 4 or (5)? Would appreciate any comments on how it works. My current version 2.0.0.13 seems to be getting unreliable, freezes too often.

Any help?

Foxfire? edit the subject... Firefox

Firefox 3 Beta 4 has been rock solid. Beta 5.... I'm just downloading...

Beta 4 has some massive memory gains over Beta 3 and well for get V2.0.x it's a pig.

Now that the web developer bar works on the betas .. I've switched to Firefox. Currently on B5 - no major problems with the sites I visit.

Are you using FF add-ins? They appear to be the most common source of FF instability/poor performance. Try disabling them all, and then incrementally enabling them over time.

3.0B5 seems to be working okay here - but I only downloaded it this morning and haven't given it a full workout yet...

Sorry about the spelling.

Downloaded and installed Firefox 3 Beta 5, and will give it a through checkout.

The only add on I use is the download status bar. Found it very useful since I often download PDF files.

I'm still on 2.0.0.13 and as someone said above I've found the core browser to be very solid. However, some of the add-ons create problems, and seemed to create more when I upgraded from 2.0.0.12. With them disabled I'm fine.

But if 3B5 looks good then I'll be getting that soon.

the only problem is that the BETA is not an upgrade, it installs parallel to the 2.0.13....

So don't do much customizing as when the finished V3.0 comes out it will install over your 2.0.13 and the beta version will be left aside.

Meerkat will become famous soon enough
thanks all for Beta testing this browser, I am using Firefox more and more, although still have IE as my default.

It is good to realise that I "know" some of the gazillion beta testers Mozilla claim.

Saying that for some reason I regularly get problems logging into this site (Geoexpat.com) when using Firefox.

Well I use Firefox pretty much exclusively now, using ver 2.0.0.13 on several computers with no problems, never have a problem at this site, it is set to log on automatically and always does without fail.

I didn't really see what the fuss was about at first, pretty similar to IE but I use a couple of Add-ons which are pretty essential for me now. Auto hide, which makes the browser completely disappear, and also Foxmarks bookmark synchroniser which automatically synchronises my bookmarks between all my computers, office, home, laptop etc. Anytime I add a bookmark on one computer it's automatically updated on any other of my computers next time I fire up Firefox which is kind of neat. I also have a portable version of Firefox on a USB which is also bookmark synched.
