My friend and i were always arguing lately I say : The USA gives more oppotunities to non chinese like us, she says: she is terrified the way terrorism has invaded America.I say: But there is no language barrier there,
she says: It is more peaceful in Hongkong. She always says she would settle for a peaceful environment here than outside. I say: But Hongkong suffers a higher percentage of unemployment than before, she says: It is much the same.

The US is more peaceful than Hong Kong??? Looked at the violent crime statistics lately?

Lived in the US for several years... studied and worked there and visit about 3 to 4 times a year. Give me Hong Kong or virtually any part of South East Asia over the US.

sounds like your friend has read the newspaper or watches the news at least a few times recently.

Life is what you make it, so you can have a better life anywhere you like if you make it so. But comparing places on Earth, especially such places almost on opposite sides of the Earth is comparing Apples and Oranges. The US is pretty big. Hong Kong is pretty tiny. Keep up your argument with your friend and expect to argue for a while. Keep us posted here.

However if you refer to the Mercer Human Resource Consulting Group Survey's Yearly Ranking of the world's top cities, now you can compare the World cities "based on detailed assessments and evaluations of 39 key quality of life determinants". It's pretty interesting. I didn't sign-up to login to find out where Hong kong ranks among the US' cities.

I prefer the US to HK anyday. People are friendlier there, there is far more opportunity in the US, there is plenty to do, cost of living is generally less than in HK and you buy anything there!

It's peaceful in Hong Kong than the US??? Give me a break! This is a polluted, crowded city. Please ask your friend where the peace is! There is certainly more crime in the US, but that's because we have 270 million people as opposed to 7 million in Hong Kong. Terrorism is a reality we live with, but we are a world power - other countries are threatened by that.
